Selected to participate in a year-long teaching fellowship focused on institutional and personal areas of study. With Theodore Rabb, Professor of History, Professor Morgovsky participated in an extensive analysis of General Education history and principles. With Peter Bunnell, Professor of Art, he studied the history of photography and received individualized training in photographic criticism. With Emmet Gowin, Artist-in-Residence, he joined a seminar on personal expression in photography.

Summary of Professional Experience and Specializations

  1. Professor Morgovsky's academic background encompasses more than 35 years as a successful educator and academic leader. Recognized both locally and nationally as a master teacher and outstanding colleague, he is highly sought after by students and staff alike.
  2. He has been honored by his students three times as an Outstanding Teacher through Who's Who in American Education.
  3. An author of important educational software (Psych Now! Thompson Education), he has also provided leadership to the Academic Computing Council at his institution. He is a pioneer in designing and teaching sections Introduction to Psychology II online at his college.
  4. An outstanding lecturer, Professor Morgovsky has addressed many national conferences on topics as diverse as educational technology and the psychological significance of photographs. Most recently, he presented at the Annual Conference of the American Psychological Association in Hawaii, and the annual Colloquia of the Center for Holocaust Studies at Brookdale Community College.
  5. Professor Morgovsky has chaired several major committees such as the General Education Committee, Academic Computing Council, College Governance, and the Portfolio Review Committee at Soho Photo Gallery. He has served as Chairman of the Psychology Department twice and two terms as Division Chair for Social Sciences.
  6. As Advisor for the Brookdale Community College chapter of Psi Beta, the National Honor Society in Psychology for Two-Year colleges, Professor Morgovsky was recognized as the 2005 Virginia Staudt Sexton Outstanding Chapter Advisor. The Brookdale chapter of Psi Beta was also recognized as the 2005 Wadsworth Publishers Outstanding Psi Beta Chapter.
  7. Professor Morgovsky is Chair of the Committee on Psychology and Photography for Division 1 of the American Psychological Association. The committee is charged with seeking out and drawing together out other members of APA who are deeply involved with photography. It will become a networking hub for those psychologists, creating a community of psychologist/photographers. The committee will engage in literature searches for published work on points of contact between psychology and photography. It will generate an essential reference list on the psychological dimensions of photography and also produce new relevant articles. Part of the committee's initiatives is also the exhibition of photographs made by psychologists called “Psychologists in Focus.”
